President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a gradual easing of lockdown measures in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The three locations had been put on lockdown since March 30, 2020 as part of measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus disease that has infected over 3 million people across the world. While speaking during a national address on Monday, April 27, Buhari lamented that the lockdown measures have had heavy economic consequences with many losing their means of livelihood. "No country can afford the full impact of a sustained lockdown while awaiting the development of vaccines," he said.
